abstract

an experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of biogen probiotic additives on growth performance of common carp, cyprinus carpio. four practical diets containing 0 (control) , 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3 % biogen probiotic were used to feed fish. seventy-two juvenile common carp (65 ? 3.5g) were randomly distributed between 12 fiberglass tanks of 500 l capacity. during 60 days of feeding trial, the fish receiving probiotic feeds showed significantly higher growth performance in terms of weight gain (wg), specific growth rate (sgr), protein efficiency ratio (per), food conversion ratio (fcr) and survival rate (sr) in comparison with those fed the control diet (p0.05) in fish fed diets containing 0.1 and 0.2 percent of probiotic. fish carcass composition in the diets receiving probiotic improved from initial values i.e. higher levels of protein and lipid with lower levels of moisture and ash content and showed significant difference (p< 0.05) only with the basal control diet. there were no significant differences (p > 0.05) in body composition between the treatments which received probiotic. feeding juvenile carp with diets containing biogen probiotic improves growth performances and feeding efficiency in them; the optimum addition of probiotic is 0.3 g/100gof diet.

Effects of different periods of starvation and compensatory growth on growth indices and hematological parameters in common carp (Cyprinus carpio).

Starvation periods of fish in during the developmental stages on growth indices and blood factors can be affected. The effects of compensatory growth on growth indices and physiological responses (glucose, total protein and cholesterol), study for 8 week investigated in Juveniles of common carp (Cyprinus carpio). The fish were divided in 4 experimental groups with initial weight (13/88±0/88 gr)...

Effects of Zingiber officinale powder on growth parameters, survival rate and biochemical composition of body in juvenile common carp (Cyprinus carpio)

This study was conducted with different levels (0, 0.25, 0.5,1,2 g) of Zingiber officinale powder per 100 g of common carp commercial diet. Feed was offered for 8 weeks by the post pelleting liquid spraying method. Results showed that there were significant differences in all growth parameters and body composition except in survival rate, Gain Weight Percent (GW%) ,SGR and NFE between treatment...
